Explosive Plays Already Happening at Camp

Back before the 2017 off-season began, one of the main areas the Bucs needed to improve was creating more explosive plays. The Bucs were near the bottom of the league when it came to explosive plays as they didn’t have a play over 50 yards last season. So Gm Jason Licht and his staff got together and decided this team needs to inject more speed and dynamic playmakers especially on offense. The Bucs went out into free agency and got their number one target in WR Desean Jackson  which provides their offense with a true deep threat. It was on display during day 2 of training camp, the speed he brings to the offense is going to make a huge difference. These plays occurred after the offense was struggling for a bit, it just shows that speed can change the game in a blink of an eye per buccaneers.com.

Now not only did the Bucs add Jackson, they went out into the draft and got OJ Howard and Chris Godwin making the offense more dangerous. Both have been consistent so far with their playmaking ability and both are getting rave reviews from their teammates and coaches. Here is a strong catch by Chris Godwin during practice today per Riley Auman.

Godwin has shown great body control so far and has been impressive with his route running for a rookie. With OJ Howard, he is already displaying his freakish athleticism and is very natural as a pass catcher. Here is Howard making a great catch in traffic against JJ Wilcox with one arm per CPGM Headley.

The new additions are already making big plays which is great to see and should be a sign of things to come this season. One thing is for sure, a lack of explosive plays should not be an issue this season barring injuries. The Bucs have become faster on offense and more balanced overall. The best part about this is that the offense could be struggling then all of sudden can break a big play with the players they now have on offense. It’s a luxury that this offense has been missing till now which should make this offense a fun one to watch this upcoming season.
