Martin Makes Offense Complete

He’s back! The Bucs get running back Doug Martin back tonight as he returns from his 3 game suspension. The Bucs are hoping he can give the offense a boost against the defending champions tonight. Martin is coming off a disappointing 2016 season as he was just not himself and struggled to pick up any consistency. Martin is still a very talented running back and so far this off-season and in preseason, he looked like the back of 2015. Martin is ready to prove his critics wrong and help this offense take that next step towards elite. It sure seems like Martin mindset is in the right place and is in great physical shape which is great news for the Bucs tonight. Martin is definitely ready to contribute tonight and is just excited to be back per

“Oh yeah, definitely. We’ve got the Patriots coming up and I can’t wait to get out there and play for these guys. It’s been a while. It was a long break and now I can’t wait to get out there and play.”

With the weapons the Bucs have, running the ball should be a good option due to less defenders in the box. This means with Martin back in the fold, the offense becomes more dangerous and overall complete. Dirk Koetter can be more creative with his offense and the play action should become even more effective with Martin in the backfield. While Jacquizz Rodgers is very good, he just isn’t as dynamic as Martin can be when he is right. Now I don’t know how much Martin will be used tonight but I feel his impact will be made early in this game. His presence alone should help open up space in the passing game just because the defense has to respect his abilities as a running back. Martin’s ability to get yards after contact is special and hopefully he can shake off any rust and display that tonight. This offense is close to breaking out and hopefully tonight we get a sneak preview of what this offense can really be.
